Frequently Asked Questions

How do you charge for your services?

I charge 0.1% a month which equates to 1.2% per year on assets under management (AUM). This is $1 a month for every $1000 under management. I do not get paid through any type of commission, kickbacks, or other undisclosed revenue sources.

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes, I must put my clients' interests first and be thorough with my advice.

How often will we review my financial plan?

Each client will have a different cadence depending on their need and preference. I meet with some clients monthly and others quarterly. Although we may not meet on a given month, I am spending time working on and monitoring your financial plan behind the scenes.

What is the minimum asset level to work with you?

I don’t judge people for the number in their bank account. I like to value the quality of relationship and ability for my services to be beneficial to an individual’s wealth building or preservation journey.

What should I expect in my first meeting?

Expect a light conversation that is mostly centered around who you are as a person and some of your big picture goals and values. Money is deeply emotional and understanding people’s emotions around money before getting into the numbers allow for a much more effective financial plan as a result.

Do I need a financial planner if I’m just starting out?

I’m a firm believer in the benefits of seeing how your savings can potentially compound over time. Seeing a projection of what a dollar saved vs a dollar spent for an individual can be highly encouraging and reinforce positive behaviors for especially young people. Also… money is hard. Having someone to help with the behavioral side of money can remove emotional and tactical road blocks keeping you from maximizing your wealth building potential.

How do you coordinate with my CPA or Attorney?

I coordinate with CPAs and Attorneys in the areas of tax and estate planning. Having someone coordinate this process can save time and may provide a better end result for the client. Think of this like speaking to a doctor, if you don’t give full context, the response and subsequent treatment will be sub-optimal. It is the same with coordinating with other professionals. Having someone who took the time to understand you and your goals deeply in your corner to translate this into technical language has saved time and money for my clients.
